Monte Carlo Codes Invited Session

(WARNING : different deadlines and contact mail)

This invited session is intended to present a worldwide state of the art of Monte Carlo development for radiation transport applications.

This 2 hour session will be a poster and demonstration session. Each code will be given two poster panels (each single face) and a table to host a laptop running a demo (laptop being provided by each team).

Attendance of each team and laptop demonstration will be requested during the 2 hours of this invited session. The posters alone will remain in this special session room during all the conference, giving additional opportunities to discuss around.

There will not be any oral regular session for general presentations or reviews of the codes, and no oral paper will be accepted on that subject. The adequate time to present the codes is this Monte Carlo Codes Invited Session. Of course, all teams are warmly welcome (and very much expected) to propose oral papers on particular innovative topics of their code (nuclear data, tracking, geometry, parallelism, V&V etc.).

Suggested topics

The suggested topics for the posters (and associated extended abstract xor full paper) are : tracked particles, energy range, nuclear data, geometry package, tallies, parallel operations, variance reduction tools, productivity tools, available V&V, available documentation, computer platforms, licensing and distribution policy.

As for the proceedings, the code developers are encouraged to write a full paper. The proceedings of this invited session (and of the whole conference) would  thus be a detailed state of the art of Monte Carlo code development in the world, and a valuable reference for our community in the future. It is nevertheless possible to have only an extended abstract to describe each code.

Practical information

Poster format : two A0 posters, 841mm (wide) x 1189 mm (high) are allocated to each code. If received in pdf format before October the 15th, they will be printed and installed by the organisation.
Code demonstration : a 220 AC European standard plug will be available for each laptop. Laptops are provided by the code teams.
In the preliminary agenda, this session is scheduled on Wednesday the 30th.

The conference will print and install the posters, at no extra charge.

>>> Deadlines and contact mail for this invited session (WARNING different from the regular technical papers)

October the 15th : full paper (12 pages max), or extended abstract (2 pages).

October the 15th : pdf file for posters. (after this date, the Conference will not be able to print the posters, you'll have to carry them with you).

Extended abstracts XOR full papers and posters should be sent directly to jean-christophe.trama@cea.fr, for editorial purposes.
